Activities for preschoolers toddlers and even infants are sometimes hard to find. Others can be a burden with lots of preparation for parents.

Below are some quick,easy and fun activities for preschoolers and toddlers where materials are simple and ready in no time. Feel free to modify these activities according to your resources and ability level of your child.

Water play:

In warmer weather, turn on the sprinkler or fill the kiddy pool for some water play. Have buckets, containers, sieves and floaty toys to play with. Encourage your child to practice tipping water over their hair and face to prepare for learning to swim. A reminder to always stay with your child when in or around water. Never leave them unattended.

Balance beam:

Tape a line to the floor with masking tape or sidewalk and give your toddler a cup that is nearly full of water. The challenge is to walk to the line, spilling as little as possible. Increase the challenge by holding a cup of water in each hand. Walk around an obstacle with the cup of water.

Fancy hats:

1. Let your child decorate a piece of firm paper with crayons, markers and stickers.
2. Fold the paper into a cone shape, tape or staple the overlapping edges together, and cut the bottom edge so it is even.
3. Staple a length of elastic thread or ribbon to each side for hat straps.

Baby's bed:

1. Make a bed with your toddler for your child's doll, teddy or favourite stuffed toy out of a large cardboard box.
2. Use towels or old receiving blankets for bedding.
3. Add a small pillow and a baby blanket if you have one.
4. Your toddler will enjoy putting her baby to bed and waking her up again.

Thready threads:

1. Collect a variety of round objects such as empty spools, large beads, plastic hair curlers, large tubular pasta, or paper towel tubes cut into 1-inch rings.
2. Show your child how to thread these items onto a shoelace or length of thin plastic tubing.
3. Tie one of the objects being threaded to the end of the lace or tubing to prevent the rest from slipping off.

Binoculars:

1. Tape two toilet paper rolls together to make a pair of binoculars for your child.
2. She can decorate them with markers, stickers, and so on, and use them to spot interesting things as you go for a walk or ride in the car.

Beanbag crawls:

1. Place a beanbag on your child's back while she's in a crawling position.
2. Have her crawl around the room until the beanbag falls off.
3. Two toddlers will enjoy playing this game, with one crawling and the other picking up the beanbag when it falls.
4. Older children can play with a friend or sibling, seeing who can keep the beanbag on her back the longest.
