Provide lots of containers and boxes for your baby to empty and fill with objects, sand and water. This baby exploratory activity enhances spatial awareness. They learn how things fit together, inside and on top of each other. Nesting blocks are particularly effective for discovery.

Help your baby sort, categorise and organise objects according to shape and size. For example sorting circles, triangles and squares into slots where they fit are a basic starting point. Sort blocks or beads into largest and smallest groups. Talk about the sizes and concepts with your baby.

When your baby bangs objects together and drops things over the edge of their chair they are learning their actions have results (cause and effect). Allow and encourage your baby safely to discover results and findings such as these experiences.
