Infant Brain Development Activities

If you are happy wearing a baby sling, it's a convenient way to take your baby outdoors. Baby too can enjoy a stroll around the block or backyard, helping to do jobs such as hanging out the washing, looking at the birds and leaves or going to the shops.

When baby is unsettled, try sitting outside with them. This break and change of scenery can often work wonders as there are new things to view, smell and hear. This simple activity enhances and stimulates baby's senses.

Take your baby for a walk in the pram. If they can sit up they can enjoy different sights and sounds. Fresh air can be invigorating for your baby. Talk to your baby about the things you see and hear around you.

On a warm day set up some cups, buckets and water for your baby to play with. Talk about emptying and filling up the containers. Always supervise your baby with water and never leave them unaccompanied.

When your baby is crawling, find a safe area outside where they can crawl and explore new objects and toys.

When your baby is walking, go on explorations together such as the park, around the block or garden and into new environments. Try to expose your baby to new places and talk about where you're going and what you see.
