Homeschooling gifted children may be the better option When school doesn't nurture accelerated learning or has an inneficient program for gifted children. This requires some important decision making and some time to get organised.

There are advantages of hemeschooling gifted children. This method allows the flexibility to cater for your gifted child's needs. You also have the flexibility to take as long as you need to cover projects to the depth you desire. You are also able to make adjustments to your program so meet your child's interests and needs without the rigidity standard schools often present.

While homeschooling gifted children can be exhausting and time consuming, the rewards are endless. You may simply wish to do some extra extension work with your child outside of school time. What ever the case, Brainy Bambino provides some tips for parents to help them get started.

Follow and nurture your child's interests and passions. Find groups and excursions that can extend their thinking and help them to make more in depth discoveries.
 
If you feel you cannot provide any more enrichment in an area which interests your child, try to find an expert in the field who can mentor your child. Examples of potential mentors are high school or college students, professors, professionals and retirees.These experts are likely to have access to above standard resources that can open your child's eyes and give them more scope.

Find a method or project for homeschooling gifted children that you feel comfortable with. You may choose a structured program or a relaxed one where you follow your child's lead. Some examples of different methods are Montessori, Thomas Jefferson Education, Waldorf Method and Eclectic Homeschooling. A popular method or project for homeschooling gifted children is to simply choose a subject or topic to study in depth, for example turtles. Different concepts are used to investigate the subject such as maths, science, geography and history.
 
Do your homework to locate materials you require for homeschooling gifted children. The internet provides a huge amount of information, images and tasks to study. Look into forums and communities online that are supportive groups (for example, TAGMAX) which exchange great tips or suggestions on materials. Utilise your public library to locate books you need for their topics of interest and reading levels.
 
Last but not least, ask for help for the experts. Tell your librarian about your upcoming project with your child and ask them to hold books for you or help you locate some. Read forums online and contribute to them to find out valuable resources. Asking for help will be a valuable exercise, proving to be more worthwhile than attempting to work it all out alone.
