Indoor Toddler Activities

Indoor Toddler Activities

'Indoor toddler activities' is a straight to the point handbook of ideas for parents and carers to enrich their toddler's minds.

While outdoor play is fun and valuable for development, the weather or environment outdoors is not always pleasant, suitable or safe.

We all need some quick and simple ideas to keep our toddlers occupied, while continuing to learn indoors.

The 'Indoor Toddler Activities' handbook is specifically designed with tasks that enhance infant brain development. The activities allow toddlers with the freedom to show self expression, use their imagination and encourage creattive play (essential components to making fast learning connections).

Being indoors doesn't mean children have to be sedentary. 'Indoor Toddler Activities' include ideas for active play while indoors so children are able to get their necessary exercise and coordination skills.

This handbook is written by Brainy Bambino's Jocelyn Daly who is a qualified primary school teacher and mother of two. Infant brain development is her area of expertise and her ideas on how to promote this are included in the book.

'Indoor Toddler Activities' include:

  • A range of multi-level tasks to suit your toddler's capabilities;
  • Activities, tips and ideas for indoor toddler "active" play;
  • Activities, tips and ideas for indoor toddler "making" play;

Indoor Toddler Activities

A sample of indoor toddler activities:

  • Play "how many different walks can you do?" eg backward walk, giant steps, like an elephant;
  • Join three or four big boxes together to create a tunnel to crawl through;
  • Play "freeze" to fun music;
  • Play musical chairs, you don't need to remove a chair, just demonstrate to sit when the music stops (keep it simple);
  • Draw a line with chalk along the floor or lie a piece of rope along the floor. Ask your toddler to walk along the line after you, balancing to not fall off. Vary the type of lines from squiggly, zigzags to circle. Vary the types of walk, tip toeing, stomping, crawling;
  • Make a cubby house with blankets, boxes and furniture. Put a cd player in the cubby and some music. Sing songs in there and play with toys;
  • Put some books and puzzles in the cubby so your toddler can do some reading and learning activities.
