Why Read To Baby Early? If You Can't Find What You're Looking For, Use This Search Feature....
Many parents wonder what the hype is about and why read to baby. We've heard it before, children are like sponges, they soak up all our words and values we use around them. Most parents are in awe and amazed to discover what their child has soaked up from watching and listening to them. So why read to baby early? This is when their little brains are most porous and lumber. Reading new and meaningful words into their ears helps them to gain background knowledge of their world, make strong connections in their brain and build a strong vocabulary. These are the main traits for future reading success. I had a friend once say to me, "Kids just pick up what they need to learn at school". It was a shuddering thought! Sadly, for those children, all those important years for building foundations for reading success have been disregarded and wasted. If you think about it, a child spends approximately 900 hours of their year at school and approximately 7,800 hours outside of school or at home. It is obvious that parents and carers outside of school, preschool and day cares have a greater influence and opportunity for teaching than any school teacher can hope for.

It is interesting to note that Finland boasts the world's highest reading scores in the world, yet they don't formally teach their children to read before they're six or seven years old. They feel that this is developmentally the natural time for the brain to begin this type of instruction. If they boast the highest reading scores in the world, but do not teach their children to read until they're seven years old, what do they do and what techniques do they apply prior to this age? They read to baby early and apply some other strategies that help words flow into their brains. Brainy Bambino's My Baby Can Read Program outlines their strategies and techniques used with babies to lay the foundations for reading success.
