Your Baby Can Read

Your Baby Can Read If you're looking to give your baby a headstart to reading, the 'Your Baby Can Read' DVD program may be what you're looking for.

I believe that parents can make the right decision for their children's learning and if this program feels right for you, then it may well be.

'Your Baby Can Read' consists of 5 DVDs, 5 word and picture cards, and 1 wipe-clean word card and pen. The Starter DVD introduces your child to 22 words.

You play the DVD twice a day (which takes about an hour in total) for a month and then use Volume 1 for two months.

Volume 1 reviews the starter video and introduces 30 new words. After that, parents are encouraged to move on to Volume 2 that introduces 50 new words for two months.

Revision of the Starter and Volume 1 DVDs is encouraged. Volume 3 follows and introduces 50 new words and more songs and poems.

You are advised to use this almost exclusively for another month and then switch to Volume 4, which reviews the other DVDs.

You then alternate this video with the other videos.

The approach is simple and straightforward which greatly appeals to parents.

The 'Your Baby Can Read' DVD program is based on the fact that your baby uses associations to learn new things. It will show them what the word looks like, show them a picture of the word in action, and let the baby hear the sounds of the word in action as well. So using the senses of sight and sound, your child is being entertained by seeing all the pieces come together.

I have both viewed and used this program personally and found it to be entertaining and easy to use.

What did my baby think of it?

Great - if I sat with him and was very interactive and enthusiastic about what we were watching. It is not easy or realistic to expect a very young child to sit for too long if they're not engrossed about the show themselves.

Every child is different so it is hard to judge this program for all. I will say though that this program is not a babysitter and babies will most likely tune out if you leave the room.

If you read some reviews, others cannot rave enough about the success it brings to infant reading! It is up to you to decide and see if it meets your needs and wants for your baby. In my opinion, if it appleals to your learning style, why not give it a go.

I will also say though that I am not a big advocate for too much TV screen for babies so be sensible with the program and keep it in perspective.
